4th Grade Newsletter April
3rd Grade Newsletter for April
Hello Sherwood 3rd Grade Families!
Happy Spring! We hope that you all had a very fun and relaxing spring break. The next 3-4 weeks we will be introducing your 3rd grader to Volleyball and Pickleball. Pickleball is played on a badminton court using a wooden paddle and a wiffle ball. It's like enlarged ping pong. The week before Spring Break, your child started Spring Fitness Testing. They perform 6 different tests, ranging from testing their cardiovascular endurance, cardiovascular strength, muscular strength, muscular endurance, agility and flexibility. The different types of tests are: Shuttle Run (agility), Push-ups/flex arm hang (muscular strength), curl ups (muscular endurance), sit and reach (flexibility) and the infamous Pacer Test.
The Pacer Test is a multistage aerobic capacity test that progressively gets more difficult as it continues. On Thursday, your 3rd grader will be running the Pacer Test. We stress the importance of trying their best and not to worry if their score is not the best. Please reiterate with your child the only expectation is that they try their best and push themselves a little bit.
For Thursday, please have your child bring a change of clothes (if they desire) and a water bottle. Their 3rd grade PE time on Thursday is: 3U and 3Sagat have PE at 8:45 - 9:15 (please arrive to school on time on Thursday) and 3Sinense have PE at 9:15 - 9:45.
If you have any questions regarding fitness testing or the Pacer Test please don't hesitate to contact Mr J or Mrs Cook .
Thank you
